The Go & Whoa Test
A simple test that shows whether your horse is truly listening to your aids, and how to track it all winter so you can see your progress.
Gears Without Galloping
The pole and grid exercises Boyd uses to make the canter bigger and smaller on demand. Every one fits in an indoor arena.
The Spicy Moment Plan
A stronger bit won't fix your canter
Pulling harder won't fix it, and neither will kicking more or hoping your horse settles by fence three. Boyd's horses run on balance and rhythm, not hardware. Get the canter right and the control comes with it, and so does the confidence.
Who is this for?
Eventers riding Starter to Training level in the US, or the equivalent levels in Australia and New Zealand, whose horses get strong, sticky or flat between fences. It's especially useful if you're moving up to Training and feeling the jump in pace.
It works whether or not you have a coach, and you won't need cross-country fences. Poles, a few small jumps and an arena are all it takes.
